All said, this is still the best option out of these cars IMO. Not only that, check out the site Toyota made to go with it, Virtual Drive. Here’s a video that shows it and the Prius Plug-In: youtube(dot)com(/)watch?v=X4GCxTd3wB0 (Remove parentheses)
It’s cool because it lets you know exactly what you’re getting into when you go somewhere.
The Plug-in Prius is nice because it has a nice open hatch and the battery does not take up extra space. The C-Max Energi Plug-in has a huge battery taking up space awkwardly in the back.
until you mentioned it that thought never crossed my mind they should do it
How long does the battery last? Batteries deplete. Which means 10 miles on electric can end-up being 2 miles after 5 years.
Which is why they need to make a Hybrid diesel. That should produce some really good mpg numbers.
yes they are. but when converted it adds up to 54mpg us. which is still higher than the prius
This cars interesting but I’m really looking forward to the next gen Prius. I’ve heard some really neat things.
Is that the european mpg calculations?
5:41 will answer your question. The high cost for the EV range is due to the HSD drive train, which is more efficient than the Volt’s. If you drive less than 11 miles a day and unable to access any form of public transport, then the Plug-In Prius is worth buying as it costs less than the Volt. If you drive around 40 miles, the Volt would be better, but if you drive well above 40 miles, then the Plug-In Prius would be more affordable compared to the Volt.
Why do you get to use the HOV Lane with a Prius Plug-in?
I agree with mengomichael
too bad. they seem to be popular in Kenya where i live. its a brand i may buy into
in us figures it comes up to 54 mpg. not bad if you ask me
yes i did. but its n engine used in many vw group cars like seat, skoda and i think the vw golf blue motion uses it as well. i just hate the prius
My son made a bumper sticker for my wife’s Prius that says “Polluting Discretely.” The car gets great mileage, but isn’t really a green vehicle because of all the pollution required in the building of it. Also, since we don’t drive too much, we don’t get much use out of the oil. It is changed at 5,000 miles or every 6 months which ever comes first. So, really, don’t buy it for the savings to the environment, and more to impress your liberal friends who don’t know any better.
Eh ya got me this time. I didn’t feel like looking up the converted figures.
That’s 65 MPG UK cycle, not US cycle. The testing methods are completely different.
