1. Yes people could see both folders if they know you’re ip address.

2. The Admin bar at the top of the the top of the web pages. It is only visible to those that are set in the WP users to see it. I am having some difficulty setting up the built in server. Primarily the “personal web page” which uses the /Users/MyName/Sites folder, I get that I do not have permissions and as far as I can see all is set correctly. Am I incorrect in thinking that using the /Library/Webserver/Documents folder the outside world could see whatever I have residing in there?

3. MAMP also has issues. I’d use the web server built into OSx for the best results. I’m not sure what you mean by admin bar?

4. OK, got rid of the fatal error, but the Admin Bar is still disappearing. Now I am using MAMP v2.1.1 w/PHP 5.4.4, mysql 5.5.25, apache 2.2.22 and WP 3.4.1. I even downloaded your zip of the news theme and it would not render right. I was going to download an older version of WP if I thought I might glean some insight to what is going on here. I believe you are correct about XAMPP, 1.7.3 has been out for some time. Ideas for a course of action?

6. I use the web server that is built into the mac operating system. Turn on the web server – System Preferences – Web Sharing On

   Click Open Computer Website Folder – that is where you put the files that you want to work with on your web server. Look for my video called Install WordPress on Localhost

7. I am on Mac OS 10.6.8. What do you use on yours? Options?

8. XAMPP seems to have trouble with WordPress at times. I don’t use it for development because I had problems as well years ago. Look into wubi if you are on a PC

9. Fatal error: Call to a member function get_queried_object() on a non-object in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/wordpress/wp-includes/admin-bar.php on line 448

   I referenced this error on part 6 of this tutorial. This is happening as soon as you reference the get_footer() function. I have tried this with different content in footer.php and still receive this error. Please help. It’s weird ’cause it doesn’t happpen with the first WP theme tutorial, which was also done using the blank theme.
